Woods under pressure


Tiger Woods is back needing a wild card to the Ryder Cup - all because of a player who has never won on the US Tour.

Jeff Overton's second place in the Greenbrier Classic, an event he lost by one when Australian Stuart Appleby closed with only the fifth 59 in PGA Tour history, lifts him up from 10th to fourth on the American points table.

As a result world number one Woods drops to ninth. Only the top eight earn automatic spots in the team on Sunday week following the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and US PGA, both of which Woods is playing.

Captain Corey Pavin then waits three weeks before naming his four picks for the Celtic Manor match on October 1-3.
